TL;DR – I tried this stuff fully convinced that it would do nothing and I was wrong. I actually got a decent amount of zip out of this, although there was nothing in the way of euphoria. The main ingredients in this powder are guarana and taurine so it’s basically like snorting Red Bull. So you can pretty much just imagine the energy boost from an energy drink just more concentrated and short lasting and you’ve got this stuff. That being said, it’s better than nothing and considering the current state of the legal powder market right now, I’ll take what I can get. 5/10 for a surprisingly decent energy boost but don’t get your hopes up if you want it to take the place of your favorite – now illegal – salts or powders.
So it’s pretty much the worst it’s ever been for the legal high industry since its inception. Thanks to the recent crackdown, most of the online vendors seem to be ducking and covering and waiting out the current shit storm. While I can’t say that I blame them, it does put those of us who like to get energized legally in a very uncomfortable situation. We can take our chances ordering something that might be contraband (not something I’m willing to do), or we can wait it out and see what happens when the wave of media and law enforcement attention inevitably recedes and things return to normal (or more accurately, whatever the new version of normal is). Or, we can try some of the all-natural, intended for human consumption products that are still available and on the market.
One of the products that is still available is Dex Party Powder. Dex seems to be a part of the family of products like V8, etc that are on numerous sites including pills4party.com and ravepartypills.com to name two. It’s an all-natural energy powder with Guarana and Taurine as the main ingredients. If these sound familiar, it’s because you saw them on the side of the can the last time you drank an energy drink. In other words, this stuff is the equivalent of snorting a Red Bull. Not to say that’s entirely a bad thing.
I’ve had this for a while now but just haven’t gotten around to trying it. I got this as part of a huge pack or products that Alpha picked up for me to sample. I opened the packet up and dumped a portion out on a mirror and examined it. The powder was rather fine, no chunks noticeable. According to the manufacturer, they recommend one 50-100mg line for a dose so I eyeballed one out and railed it. There wasn’t any burn as far as I noticed and the subsequent drip wasn’t too bad.
I noticed a boost in energy almost immediately. Not the “my heart is going to explode” type of boost, more of a boost in alertness and energy. I could really sense the similarity in ingredients with energy drinks right away. It was like slamming a can all at once. The boost was pretty nice and I felt more talkative and energized for about half an hour or so. This was all energy though, not a bit of euphoria – not that I really expected any. The manufacturer recommends waiting three hours between doses but I personally went about every hour. This isn’t recommended if you’re sensitive to caffeine but, then again, I doubt anyone who’s sensitive to caffeine reads this blog. Needless to say, I snorted a ton of the stuff over the course of the night. Sadly, like an energy drink, after a point it just stopped doing anything for me so I laid off of it.
I’d say you could definitely use this to start off your night with an energy boost or to perk yourself back up later in the evening to keep the fun going. It’s nowhere near the powders that were around until the recent crackdown, but, if memory serves, they were a step down from the first generation powders too. I’d say this could definitely be worse and the initial boost of energy was intense enough that I’m wondering just what’s possible in the all-natural energy powder field. There are a ton of natural sources of stimulants, if a manufacturer is willing to put in the time and effort to really concentrate some of these natural compounds there could be promise for future products.
As far as Dex goes, I probably won’t get it again but I’ll still give it 5 out of 10. It did more than I thought it would, and it could be a good product for people looking for a less intense stimulation. As for myself, I’ll just keep an eye on the industry and see what emerges to fill what is currently a gaping hole.
As always, thanks for reading,
